Duck Football: Anthony Wallace transferring from Oregon

EUGENE - University of Oregon linebacker Anthony Wallace has informed Chip Kelly of his intentions to transfer from the school's football program, according the Ducks' head coach.

The Dallas, Texas, sophomore had played in 15 games in his first two years in the program, accumulating one tackle for loss among his 13 tackles. The former Skyline High School standout was credited with one stop in last year's Rose Bowl win over Wisconsin while finishing with Oregon single-game bests of three takedowns as a true freshman vs. USC and this year against Colorado.

"We wish Anthony the best in his future endeavors and will attempt to assist him wherever he decides to pursue his education and football career," Kelly said.

The 6-0, 235-pound Wallace will have three years to complete his two seasons of eligibility.

"Gangster Squad" takes $650K in midnight showings, battle with "Zero Dark Thirty" awaits

NEW YORK (TheWrap.com) - Warner Bros.' "Gangster Squad" grossed $650,000 in midnight showings Thursday night, a strong start to what should be a weekend-long fight for the box-office crown.

Ruben Fleischer's tale of cops and organized crime in mid-20th century Los Angeles will duke it out with Kathryn Bigelow's "Zero Dark Thirty," the Oscar contender that expands to almost 3,000 screens this weekend.

Box office experts projected "Zero Dark Thirty" would eke out the win before the weekend began, though it remains a close race with both movies looking at openings of about $20 million.

"Gangster Squad," which stars Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone and Sean Penn, has a breezy action feel, and runs under two hours. Despite a strong cast, reviewers have not responded warmly to the film, which charts at 43 percent on Metacritic and 34 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Academy rewarded "Zero Dark Thirty" with five Oscar nominations on Thursday buffeting its pursuit of viewers despite its two hour and 37 minute length.

Warner Bros. did not immediately respond to TheWrap's request for comment.

DUP Threatens Legal Action Over Union Flag

Belfast City Council could face legal action over its decision to limit the flying of the union flag over City Hall following an official complaint by the DUP.

The DUP claims the action made multiple breaches of the council's own equality scheme.

It said the complaint was "the first step towards a formal complaint to the Equality Commission and ultimately possible legal action.

"The DUP is committed to pursuing all political avenues to overturning the disastrous decision by Sinn Fein, SDLP and the Alliance party and to repairing the harm to good relations and a shared future it has caused."

The move follows the first meeting of the unionist forum ? an initiative set up by DUP leader Peter Robinson and UUP leader Mike Nesbitt.

The forum was established as an attempt by the two unionist parties to encourage dialogue between unionists and loyalists angered by the situation at City Hall.

Today the forum meets members of the community in east Belfast.

Mike Nesbitt, Finance Minister Sammy Wilson and the Reverend Mervyn Gibson are expected to attend.

Brian Rea, chair of the policing board in NI, says he believes dialogue on the union flag issue will "bear fruit".

"I want to pay tribute to those who are endeavouring to take this by a different route," Mr Rea said.

"I believe the dialogue that has now commenced by the political leadership will bear fruit.

"Dialogue and not disorder is the way to resolve this."
